Plumpton Parish is nestled in the heart of the South Downs in East Sussex midway between Lewes and Ditchling, and approximately ten miles inland from Brighton. Part of the parish is located within the South Downs National Park.
Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the South Downs National Park, Plumpton offers a perfect blend of rural tranquillity and vibrant community life where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and horse riding.
The Parish boasts a rich agricultural heritage, highlighted by Plumpton College, a leading institution in land-based education that plays a vital role in our local economy. Plumpton is also home to the historic Plumpton Racecourse, where thrilling jump racing has captivated audiences since 1884. With a strong sense of community, Plumpton features essential amenities including a primary school, pre-school, local shop, post office, and welcoming pubs. Our residents take pride in participating in numerous clubs and societies ranging from sports like football, cricket, stoolball and archery to creative groups such as the Plumpton Pantomime Group. Community initiatives like the Happy Circle and Good Neighbour Scheme foster connections among neighbours and enhance our village’s close-knit atmosphere.
